The Scottish Tartan Authority

The Scottish Tartans Authority is based in Crieff, Perthshire. Formed by Scotland’s leading tartan weavers.

It has provided a Scottish tartan certification service since 1996 to stimulate and promote research into tartan.

The border design was commissioned to edge the certificates issued by the Authority. It was a fun project to carry out. It obviously shows a Celtic border element embellished with thistles as well as sheep from where the wool comes from, a spinning wheel and a roll of tartan. The two targes at the top corner are special to Perthshire and were particularly requested by the client.
